My passion is people.
With each client I meet, I feel privileged that the person trusts me enough to share their experiences and be at their most vulnerable. I understand how anxiety-provoking this can be for clients. I could not do the work I do if I did not believe that:

Guidance

People are experts of their own lives and need guidance rather than advice

Strength

People are resilient, strong and have their own set of skills and resources

Change

People are capable of change

About

sandy

I am a dedicated social worker holding a Master of Social Work degree, with 9 years’ experience as  a counsellor.  As humans, we are social beings.  We, therefore, need to form relationships with one another, in order to feel “whole”.

When an individual reaches out for help with their mental health, they start a cycle of healing.  Mentally healthy individuals create healthy families, which spills over into healthy communities, and ultimately, a healthy society.  So although I have a passion for working with couples and families – building, restoring and maintaining functional relationships, starts with each individual.

My approach to counselling is person-centered and non-judgmental.  It is of utmost importance to me that each and every one of my clients feels heard and understood.  This approach is a way of being for me and is carried into my life in my roles as a mother, sister, daughter, friend and colleague.

I practice mindfulness in my life and keep myself grounded by walking in nature and practicing yoga and meditation.  Furthermore, I reduce the amount of ‘noise’ in my life by surrounding myself with people who are positive, uplifting and supportive.
