About
I am a dedicated social worker holding a Master of Social Work degree, with 9 years’ experience as a counsellor. As humans, we are social beings. We, therefore, need to form relationships with one another, in order to feel “whole”.
When an individual reaches out for help with their mental health, they start a cycle of healing. Mentally healthy individuals create healthy families, which spills over into healthy communities, and ultimately, a healthy society. So although I have a passion for working with couples and families – building, restoring and maintaining functional relationships, starts with each individual.
My approach to counselling is person-centered and non-judgmental. It is of utmost importance to me that each and every one of my clients feels heard and understood. This approach is a way of being for me and is carried into my life in my roles as a mother, sister, daughter, friend and colleague.
I practice mindfulness in my life and keep myself grounded by walking in nature and practicing yoga and meditation. Furthermore, I reduce the amount of ‘noise’ in my life by surrounding myself with people who are positive, uplifting and supportive.
